A skirt to suit the job.

Manly skirts
The sun is shining and it's perfect skirt weather.
As most women know. There is nothing better than a skirt in hot weather. I decided to sort out my skirts and choose a skirt to wear on such a beautiful day.
This morning I will be laying laminate flooring in my loft. I will be up and down all day, carrying the boards, measuring and sawing. It is hot work! I have knee pads so why not do the job in a skirt?
It is a relatively clean job and the last thing i need is to ruin a perfectly good skirt. I have many denim ones that will be perfect for the job. Hard wearing and 'tough'.
When I was sorting through the skirts, I noticed that there are many, I haven't worn, a large percentage of the time. This is a shame, because there are some really nice skirts among them. The thing is, they are just not 'manly' enough.
I have a couple of really nice, knee length, A line skirts that look, 'Girly'.
Some people think that skirts are 'girly' anyway and this is no 'big news'. I think skirts can be 'manly'. If I wear a skirt. It has to be with manly or traditionally 'men's attire'. A vest, t-shirt etc. Today I will be shirtless, due to the hot weather. I will be alone too, so who really cares what I'll be wearing? Maybe the postman, or the occasional dog walker. I'm in a very rural area. But these are used to this 'strange Englishman' by now.
I have decided to wear an above knee, denim, pleated skirt. It's rugged and hard wearing. It reminds me of a Roman gladiator type thing. I know these were leather, but the overall shape looks similar. So, all in all, a 'manly' skirt. I got it on Ebay for less than £4.00.
If I finish the job in the predicted 3 hours. (I'm half way through). I will be walking, or cycling to the village shop, in the above mentioned skirt, for some beers. I will return home and drink them, whilst enjoying the sunshine.
Even if the 'majority' of the worlds population are not ready for men in 'manly' skirts. I will do my best to show them that men can look 'manly' in skirts and this look can be achieved without compromising 'masculinity'.
I was 'working out' a little yesterday. It was in a a park that has gym equipment and I was showing my daughter how it worked. (Yeah right)! I got carried away. It was packed full of families with kids, as were we. My wife commented on how toned I looked and how proud she was that I was 'hers' It was a great confidence boost. (Thought I'd add that, despite it's irrelevance).
I never work out. I have never needed to. I have 'athletic genes' and I'm 6' 1" tall. (Thanks Mum and Dad). Maybe this is the reason why very few people ever question my clothing choice, or give me hassle, when I go out in a skirt. Unfortunately this doesn't apply to everyone.
Until it does. I will be flying the flag and doing my best to make seeing 'men in skirts', common place. "The more they see, the more they'll accept."
If you are a guy ,who loves or needs to wear a skirt. Get out there. Show them it's not uncommon, effeminate or odd! Be yourself. Laugh or smile at the starers, point back, walk with purpose, dress deliberately and enjoy the comfort, freedom and liberation.

Martinus. Thank you for your comment. I am glad that you are accepted in your skirts. That's the way it should be. There should not be a problem. Perhaps other countries should learn the tolerance of your home town or City. Long may you continue to enjoy the freedom of wearing your skirts.

Great spoken. I am wonder who will understand the message because men are afraid that hey could "lose" their own little popularity. I
I wear skirts and kilts and since people very friendly to me, holding doors open when approaching, asking in crookery stores "did you find what you was looking for, SIR"? I never had that when was dressed as all other men are, in pants.
It doesn't matter what kind of skirts I am wearing, I am different and that is the reason that people like it, even the pastor in church admires me.
I just can say as wear a skirt, and you'll feel like a king.
